Amanda Bossard, fresh out from Anchorage High School, in the year 1992, began her studies in marine biology. Bossard got her start in the industry of commercial seafood in 1999. At the time, she worked in Murat Aritan's halibut 65 feet boat, which was later transformed into a fishing tender. Bossard was married to Aritan in 1999. The couple have teamed up in fighting for their company. They both believe in conservation as well as profiting from renewable resources in the industry of seafood. Otolith is an independent wholesale distributor of seafood that was started by a woman in Philadelphia in 2007, by a now-mother of two children, Bella aged 3 and Andre one year old. Her husband has a long history in the fish industry and often they are separated from each other for five months or longer. That's when they are focusing on their environmental and financial objectives. As of July 2016 Bossard along with her daughter Isabella age 12 and son Andre age 10 return to Southeast Alaska annually each summer for deckhand work throughout the wild salmon harvest in summer. Hooks and lines are used to catch their fish after which they join Aritan for local processors for 2 months. After that, they expand their direct seafood product sales via Otolith Sustainable Seafood. Amanda Bossard was hired as an anchor on News 12 / MMJ News 12 Anchor/MMJ and News 12 Brooklyn in November 2015. She is passionate for reporting on the lives of people and places she is a part of.
